Stem Cell Therapy
that prepares first,
then delivers.

At Santa Maria, we require a mandatory pre-conditioning protocol before any stem cell infusion. Most clinics skip it. We built our entire protocol around it.

Our Approach

What Makes Santa Maria Distinct

Santa Maria Health sits on the Pacific coast of Baja California, set within oceanfront community — built as an integrative medicine retreat rather than a conventional medical facility. The environment is part of the therapy.

What makes Santa Maria distinct is not any single element in isolation. It is the combination of four things under one roof.

I

Scientific Foundation

Research-trained leadership with a PhD in molecular genetics and 100+ peer-reviewed publications

II

Pre-Conditioning Protocol

Grounded in the biology of how stem cells actually work — a prepared environment before delivery

III

Per-Batch Quality Control

Strict screening including the 61-gene oncogenicity panel not standard at other clinics

IV

Integrative Environment

Cell therapy as part of a complete healing process, not a standalone injection

The Science

What Are Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are adult cells derived from donor tissue — not embryonic. MSCs reduce systemic inflammation, repair damaged tissues, and modulate the immune system. They are used in hundreds of clinical studies worldwide.

At Santa Maria, we use allogeneic (donor-derived) MSCs from multiple tissue sources. The medical team selects the appropriate cell type based on each patient’s condition.

No immunosuppression required. Unlike embryonic stem cell therapies, MSC therapy does not require patients to take immunosuppressive drugs. MSCs have immunoprivileged status — they can be used from donor to recipient without triggering rejection.
By Tissue Source
Umbilical cord Rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune conditions, joint and connective tissue disorders. High potency, strong immunomodulatory profile.
Placenta Autoimmune conditions. Similar profile to umbilical cord MSC.
Dental pulp Neurodegenerative conditions, neurological support. Preferred for central nervous system applications.
Adipose tissue Anti-aging, general rejuvenation, systemic support.
  • Specialized Dendritic cell preparations — targeted immune applications, including the Lyme disease protocol
  • Specialized Activated lymphocyte preparations (CD4/CD8) — intravenous immune support
  • Adjunct Exosomes — cell-free regenerative signaling, used as adjunct therapy
Protocol

Why Pre-Conditioning Matters

Most clinics inject cells on day one. We don’t.

Stem cells do not function as free-floating cells. They require a biological niche supported by the lymphatic system and tissue microenvironment.

When the lymphatic system is congested or the tissue environment is inflamed, transplanted cells cannot survive and act effectively. We prepare this niche first — then deliver the cells.

This is a core reason the Santa Maria protocol is longer than same-day IV clinics — and why outcomes depend on the preparation phase as much as on the cells themselves.

Minimum 3 days — standard pre-conditioning
7–10 days — complex or neurological cases

Lymphatic Drainage

Clearing the lymphatic system to prepare the cellular environment for engraftment

Blood Microscopy

Live blood analysis to assess baseline cellular and immune status

Comprehensive Baseline Diagnostics

Full panel to individualize the protocol to each patient’s specific biology

IV Nutrient Loading

Targeted intravenous nutrients to support cellular reception and tissue receptivity

Inflammation Reduction

Targeted interventions to reduce systemic inflammation before cell delivery

Safety & Standards

Quality Control & Batch Screening

Every batch undergoes genetic screening via a 61-gene oncogenicity panel — a test that screens for mutations in cancer-associated genes. This level of screening is not standard practice across clinics.

  • 61-gene oncogenicity panel
  • Full viral panel: Hepatitis B, C, HIV, CMV, HSV, EBV, respiratory pathogens
  • Bacterial sterility testing (Gram stain + culture)
  • Endotoxin testing
  • Mycoplasma screening
  • Chagas disease
  • Immunophenotyping per ISCT international standard
  • Batch-specific Certificate of Analysis available on request
217

Studies. Zero tumor formation.

A 2023 systematic review of 217 studies confirmed that mesenchymal stem cells do not form tumors across reviewed clinical and preclinical data.

The laboratory supplying our cells operates under COFEPRIS authorization with ISO-classified cleanroom facilities (cascading ISO 5–8), GMP-aligned manufacturing, and FACT certification in progress.

From one of the largest stem cell laboratories in Mexico, operating under COFEPRIS authorization with ISO-classified cleanroom facilities (cascading ISO 5–8), AATB-aligned tissue standards, NOM-059 compliance for cellular products, GMP-aligned manufacturing practices, and FACT certification in progress. The laboratory has been producing clinical-grade cells for over a decade. Independent batch quality verification is performed through COFEPRIS-authorized external laboratories.
Every batch goes through comprehensive screening: a 61-gene oncogenicity panel, full viral panel, bacterial sterility testing, endotoxin testing, and ISCT-standard characterization. No. MSCs have immunoprivileged status — no rejection reactions. This is different from embryonic stem cell therapies, which do require lifelong immunosuppression.
The clinical range is 25 million to 100+ million cells per administration. Dosage is determined individually by the medical team based on condition, body weight, and treatment goals.
A minimum of 3 days for pre-conditioning, extended to 7–10 days for complex cases. The full duration depends on your specific condition and the protocol the medical team recommends.
Pricing depends on the specific protocol and length of stay. Contact us for a current pricing discussion after the free medical consultation. Costs are significantly lower than comparable treatments in the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, or the Middle East.
